Map the actual week
Downtown covers different trips. Union Station, King West, St. Lawrence, the waterfront and Yorkville can each be convenient for one person and awkward for another. Find the exact street address and entrance, then test the route at the hour you intend to train. Include transit transfer, changing, elevator and return time. The site’s neighbourhood pages are orientation aids, not promises that a trainer serves every address.
Choose the setting
A private studio can offer quiet and predictable equipment; a large gym offers range but may require a separate membership; a condo room can be close but may prohibit commercial coaching. Ask to see the room at the proposed hour and check accessible entry, washrooms, equipment and privacy. The coach should plan for the room that actually exists rather than assume every downtown venue has the same tools.
Match coaching to the goal
If you need technique instruction, ask how the trainer observes and corrects movement. If you have experience, you may want a plan review or more targeted supervision. The first visit should identify a starting point and a review date. A professional should explain how difficulty changes and where clinical questions belong. A fashionable location cannot compensate for an unclear plan.
Compare written offers
Put coach time, plan, venue fees, travel and cancellation terms on one sheet. Ask whether the same person will coach each visit and what happens if a session moves to another location. The complete price and a repeatable trip matter more than a broad “downtown” claim. Use the neighbourhood guide to prepare the address question, then confirm the actual service directly.
